Stopped in Vaughn for one night during a roadtrip with wife and kids. Hotel is clean but nothing else. Only decent place to stay AND also eat in town. A diner is right at the hotel. If you must stop here don't try anything else.
Highway robbery , Booked the room hours in advance when we got there the lady with glasses in the diner told us she was not taking reserved orders because she had railroad people she thought were coming in , price gouge much . We even showed our reserved confromation number and she still tried saying she had no information and could not accept the confromation number we had got through the booking company, then as we get the booking compant on the phone she proceeds to tell us that even if we get through to the booking company we will still need to wait another hour so she could do paperwork, worst place in New Mexico that I have seen poor customer service even if we have a confromation number she needs that money from the railroad workers, would rather sleep in my truck at this point
Very friendly, very accommodating folks. The hotel isn't fancy but it's pretty clean and it's got everything you need. My room had an exceptional shower head, which is something that's often hard to find even at big chain hotels. The front desk is in the diner across the parking lot, which serves exceptional milkshakes. If you're in or around Vaughn, NM you'll do no better than the Oak Tree Inn.
